How to get the best out of this site

This site is optimized for Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or later, using a 1024 x 768 display, automatic word wrap may occur on lower resolution displays. Hit function key  F11  to go Full Screen, hit it again to toggle back to the normal browser screen. This will not change your resolution but will display more of the page.

So to get the best out of this site it is essential to use a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 or higher.

It is also advisable (although not essential) to view the pages directly in Internet Explorer,  this can be launched as an addition even if your PC is connected to the internet via AOL software.

To create a larger Browser display area hit function key F11, to return to a normal browser window simply hit it again. Try it now and watch it toggle between the two sizes. What a difference?

To gain even more usable screen area the Task Bar, which includes the START button (usually displayed along the bottom of the screen.) can be automatically hidden until required. It reappears whenever the mouse pointer is moved to where the task bar should be.

To "hide it" simply click the start button, select "Settings" then "Task Bar and Start Menu" and click the box next to "Auto hide" followed by "OK" The Task Bar will hide itself until the mouse pointer is moved to it. The Task Bar can be positioned along the top of the screen or down the left or right hand side, but in all cases it can be hidden until required.

It should be noted that the lower the screen resolution, the more intrusive Internet Explorer becomes, with all its icons and buttons etc. leaving proportionately less screen area for actually displaying the information you have selected.

The lowest resolution used by any PC is 640 x 480 pixels (picture elements), rising to a more common 800 x 600 followed by the best all rounder 1024 x 768 now used by modern Notebook Computers. Even higher resolutions are available, 1260 x 1024, 1600 x 1200 and even 1900 x 1440 and the extreme 2048 x 1536 but these all require a suitable Graphics card and an expensive monitor, usually aimed at CAD programs or some games.
